This book documents the effort of six scholars to provide an understanding mass media development in nine Muslim countries. Undeniably, most students of the media even in Muslim countries, are more knowledgeable about the media the Western countries than they are about the media in Muslim countries. The various chapter references and additional reading provide readers with further source materials and information to allow for independent analysis and study. The approach adopted by all the writers is historical. It will enable readers to comprehend the development of the mass media from their early beginnings - the personalities and organizations involved, the problems faced well as the failures, successes and accomplishments.
