Summary :Steroids effectively reduce the amount of postoperative
swelling and pain after dentoalveolar and orthognathic
surgery, and are widely used in oral and
maxillofacial surgery. Some head and neck surgeons
now use them during ablative and reconstructive procedures
to reduce oedema and reduce the need for
routine tracheostomy.
