Spontaneous palatal fenestration: review of the literature and report of a case

Summary :There are several conditions, both congenital and
acquired, which can cause defects of the palate. Most,
however, are rare (such as tertiary syphilis and the
deep mycoses), though histoplasmosis, aspergillosis,
and phycomycosis may complicate immunodeficiency
syndromes such as AIDS. The incidence of tuberculosis
is increasing, but oral lesions are found in only
0.2% of affected patients.
