After being appointed as Director General of Hajj and Umrah at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Religious Affairs on October 1, 2021, Prof. Dr. Hilman Latief and his staff have prepared several strategic steps related to the implementation of Hajj and Umrah during the pandemic. He has coordinated with the Saudi Arabian Ambassador in Indonesia and also the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Reported from SM (Suara Muhammadiyah) TV on Sunday (17/10/2021) Prof. Dr. Hilman Latief explained that Umrah during the current pandemic must be prepared properly. "Because this is not a (ordinary) umrah, but it is an umrah during a pandemic. The approach taken is also closely related to health protocols and applies a strict system in order to provide assurance to the public, prospective pilgrims, airlines and the people there (Saudi Arabia) that our pilgrims are safe,” explained Prof. Hilman, Professor of UMY on SM TV.
The public must also prepare mentally, health and health protocol rules. In addition, they must also be prepared if there are additional costs in carrying out Hajj and Umrah during the current pandemic. For the terms and conditions from the Saudi Arabian Embassy that must be implemented by Indonesia, Prof. Hilman Latif said that it was still in the discussion stage.Prof. Hilman also hopes that in the implementation of this hajj and umrah there will be a kind of single gate policy and zero incident. It is hoped that next year the hajj quota can be increased and reopen public confidence that the Director General of Hajj and Umrah Organizers of the Republic of Indonesia can carry out this activity well.
