Every November 10 is celebrated as National Heroes Day as an effort to remember and honor the services of the heroes of the nation who have fallen. Heroes' Day was established by President Soekarno at the Meeting of the Indonesian Youth Congress (BPKRI) on October 4, 1946. Some of the national heroes who had fought for independence were Muhammadiyah figures.
Muhammadiyah has produced many figures of freedom fighters who eventually got the title of national hero. The organization which was born on November 18, 1912, is one of the largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia that has played a major role in fighting for Indonesia's independence. Now older than Indonesia, Muhammadiyah has long been the guardian of the nation from colonialism and colonialism. KH. Ahmad Dahlan and Nyi Walidah Dahlan were appointed national heroes because they helped raise Islamic reform, the women's movement, and national education through the Muhammadiyah and 'Aisyiyah organizations. Besides that, there are several Muhammadiyah figures who also received titles as National Heroes, including:
One of the messages from Ir. Soekarno to the nation's generation in the Hero's Day Speech on November 10, 1961, namely "Give me 1000 parents, I will surely uproot Semeru from its roots. And give me 10 youths, I will surely shake the world" and "A great nation is a nation that respects the services of its heroes.". Thus, it is fitting for the younger generation to be able to continue the struggle of the heroes with good morals and implement the fighting spirit and heroic values. This must be applied so that it can be one of the capitals to build a better nation.
