Muhammadiyah has entered its 109th year on November 18, 2021. Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah celebrated the 109th Milad Reception of Muhammadiyah which was held centrally at Sportorium Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) on Thursday (11/18/2021) virtually. The theme for the 109th Anniversary of Muhammadiyah is "Optimistic in Facing Covid-19: Spreading Main Values". 

The event was attended by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, namely Ir. H. Joko Widodo via a virtual connection from the State Palace. “At the age of 109 years, Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah has colored the nation's journey, synergizing, building strength, fighting, caring for and advancing Indonesia. History has recorded that Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah has continuously spread the main values to strengthen progressive Muslims as the key to achieving human dignity. The main values of progressive Islam and wasathiyah Islam have become the foundation of religious moderation to realize Indonesia as the largest Muslim country, which is safe and democratic,” said President Jokowi in his virtual speech at the State Palace.

"We should be grateful that the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia is appreciated by the international community. In addition, we should also be grateful that Indonesia is also trusted as the chairman of the G-20 forum. We are the first developing country to receive this great trust and honor. This is an acknowledgment that we are capable and can," said President Jokowi.

On the same occasion, the General Chairperson of PP Muhammadiyah, namely Prof. Dr. K.H. Haedar Nasir, M.Si also explained "The key to facing the pandemic and solving the country's problems is strong determination and sincerity accompanied by sincerity, honesty, trustworthiness, intelligence, thoroughness, and systematic steps that focus on finding solutions".

Besides celebrating Muhammadiyah's 109th Milad Reception, UMY also commemorated the inauguration of the Dasron Hamid Research & Innovation Center (DHRIC) Building. Prof. Dr. K.H. Haedar Nashir, M.Si said that the inauguration of the Dasron Hamid Research & Innovation Center building became a special moment because it coincided with the Muhammadiyah Anniversary. He also added that this also reflects the current leadership of the Rector of UMY as a liaison for the trailblazers, founders, and figures of UMY.
