Inauguration of UMY Bangladesh Corner by the Ambassador of Bangladesh

According to the tagline, "Young Worldwide", now Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) is expanding its cooperation with various countries. This time, UMY collaborated with the Embassy of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in the form of the Bangladesh Corner. UMY Bangladesh Corner was inaugurated by the Ambassador of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to Indonesia, Air Vice Marshal Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, GUP., NDC., PSC., and accompanied by UMY Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P., IPM which was held at the UMY Library D Building, 2nd Floor on Monday (12/13/2021). The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the vice chancellors, university secretaries, deans, program directors, and heads of institutions at UMY. Also present were the Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister of the Embassy of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Ms. Kazi Anarkoly, and Counselor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Md. Shajebur Rahman.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P., IPM explained that the inauguration of the Bangladesh Corner was a momentum to celebrate cooperation and brotherhood between Indonesia and Bangladesh. He also conveyed the university's openness to Bangladeshi students to study at UMY because UMY has a safe and comfortable academic atmosphere for foreign students. 

On the same occasion, Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, GUP., NDC., PSC., explained that Indonesia was one of the first countries to give recognition to Bangladesh after its independence. "With the friendship that has existed for almost 50 years, we will continue to cooperate with Indonesia, especially in terms of academics and education," he said.

With the presence of the UMY Bangladesh Corner at the UMY Library, it is hoped that it can be a means for UMY and outside UMY students to be able to get information and knowledge about the country of Bangladesh and become a "home" for Bangladeshi students who are studying at UMY.
