Wednesday, June 21, 2020 UMY Library held an IQRA #8 webinar with the topic "State of The Art, Research Gap and Novelty in Research". The resource person for the activity, namely Prof. Dr. Dyah Mutiarin, SIP., M.Sc. Professor of UMY and guided by Novy Diana Fauzie, S.S., M.A. as host and moderator.

Before the main event started, there were some remarks from the Postgraduate Program and UMY Library. From the Postgraduate Program delivered by Dr. Titih Huriah, M.Kep., Sp.Kep.Kom. He hopes that this event can produce extraordinary research. and the research results created are not only stored in the Umy library, but also in libraries outside Umy. Then from the UMY Library, Drs. Lassa Hs, M.Si. He said that hopefully the IQRA event can have a positive impact on participants who are looking for enlightenment in making scientific works.

The main event is the presentation of material by Prof. Dr. Dyah Mutiarin, SIP., M.Sc. He said that if you want to do research, you need to update information, so that the research topics used are completely different. When taking a topic that has been taken, it is necessary to have the uniqueness in the research so that it can attract the interest of the supervisor or other people who read it. There are 3 main points from the presentation of Prof. Dr. Dyah Mutiarin, SIP., M.Sc. among others: State of The Art, Research Gap, and Novelty Research.

State of the Art is the part that describes the relevance of research themes to phenomena, trends, data, processes and analysis so as to be able to show the necessary research gaps, relevant literature reviews, and appropriate research designs. The use of Research gap aims to create originality innovation in research. The most important step in the research gap is the literature review. Because literature review can be a limitation of research that can be done and which cannot be done. Research novelty is a contribution of research results to the improvement of science and or applicable technology products for the welfare of society.

The presentation of the material lasted about 45 minutes and was followed by a question and answer session. There were about 457 participants who attended the event. The enthusiasm of the participants in this event was very high, so many questions were addressed to the speakers. The question and answer session lasted about 60 minutes. The event ended with the announcement of door prizes given to 5 winners.
