Not a few students who experience confusion in working on their thesis, starting from finding the focus of research, looking for references, and so on. The UMY Library held a Thesis Clinic for UMY students on Saturday (25/6). This event was held virtually through the Zoom application which was attended by 97 participants. Thesis Clinic is a service provided by the UMY Library to students who wish to conduct consultations regarding their needs related to thesis work. The material provided is determining the focus of research, searching for references, using reference tools (Mendeley, Zotero, Endnote), and the Turnitin check service.
The event was guided by several facilitators who are also UMY librarians, including Novy Diana F.. M.A., Eko Kurniawan, M.A., M. Erdiansyah, SIP., and Nur Hasyim Latief, SIP. Each facilitator explained a different material and continued with a question and answer session. The first session was about finding the focus of research presented by Novy Diana F, M.A. He explained about how to find effective references on the internet according to the focus of their research.
The next session was an explanation of the use of reference tools applications and the Turnitin check. In this session, students can choose Mendeley, Zotero, or Endnote consultations which are carried out in each breakout room on Zoom. In the consultation session Mendeley will be accompanied by Nur Hasyim Latief, SIP., Zotero consultation by M. Erdiansyah, SIP., and Endnote consultation by Eko Kurniawan, M.A. After the reference tools training, it will be continued with Turnitin check training and how to avoid plagiarism.
This Thesis Clinic activity is expected to provide benefits for students, especially final year students in completing their final assignments.
