In commemoration of Bangladesh's victory day, Bangladesh Corner UMY held a Victory Day Celebration event on Friday (16/12) at Bangladesh Corner UMY. Victory Day for Bangladesh, which is celebrated every December 16, is Victory Day for Bangladesh. A glance at the history of the victory day is celebrated because it was on that date in 1971 the commander of the Pakistan Army, General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, surrendered to Mukti Bahini and their Indian allies. The Pakistani forces surrendered and the Bangladeshi people won after a 9 month liberation war to achieve independence and mark the formal separation of East Pakistan to become the new nation of Bangladesh. Therefore to pay homage to the martyrs, various programs and activities are carried out throughout the country in solemnity and festivities.
