The UMY Library Makes a Visit to the Muhammadiyah Museum

In order to increase knowledge about the history of Muhammadiyah, 13 UMY librarians visited the Muhammadiyah Museum on Saturday (18/3). The museum, which is located on the Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) Campus, is a place for storing, maintaining, and exposing the complete historical heritage of existence and how Muhammadiyah was founded until now..

According to the https://museum.muhammadiyah.or.id/ website, the Muhammadiyah Museum was established to record footprints by preserving historical remains presented in communicative and educational demonstrations so that we can reap shared wisdom. Armed with noble values ??and historical experience of Muhammadiyah, visitors are expected to be able to broaden their horizons of insight into the future more wisely and participate in the next movement of Muhammadiyah history.

During the visit, the UMY Library group was warmly welcomed by one of the Muhammadiyah Museum curators, Muhammad Ichsan Budi PR, S.S., M.Hum. When he first entered the Museum, he explained the concept of display and display mapping arranged in the Museum. Starting from the 1st floor, librarians are presented with various contents of Muhammadiyah historiography in which Muhammad Ichsan explains every detail of the history. “The uniformity of this painting apart from the technical side, and getting the same angel, but also from the aesthetic side and the originality of the work. So his work is truly original,” he explained The next session was followed by a sharing session delivered by the Head of the Museum, Afan Kurniawan, S.T., M.T., who is also a lecturer in Industrial Engineering at UAD FTI. He explained about the development of the management of the Muhammadiyah Museum. "Management of the Muhammadiyah Museum has started since the end of 2020 with the task of preparing the completeness of the museum, both in the main management function as a historical institution and also in the development function in accordance with applicable scientific principles," he explained.

He also added about collection inventory. "Artifacts that have been registered by the Muhammadiyah Museum as of June 2022 total 2604 and those that have entered the inventory stage as of June 2022 totaled 2451 artifacts. All collections that have been managed, then each collection that is inventoried is processed into the Museum Information System in the form of a digital catalog that aims to manage collections," he added.

After that, the sharing session was closed by handing over souvenirs from the UMY Library and Muhammadiyah Museum. It is hoped that the visit will provide insight into the historical values ??of Muhammadiyah and teach us about the struggles of former Muhammadiyah leaders who were so sincere and compassionate in fighting for Muhammadiyah.
