UMY Librarians again won an award in the “2023 National Level Best Achievement Librarian Selection” competition held by the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia. Novy Diana Fauzie, S.S., M.A., as the Head of the UMY Library won 1st place after defeating 15 finalists in the final round which was held in Jakarta on Monday-Wednesday (15-17/05). For three days all participants took part in a number of stages of assessment covering aspects of knowledge, skills and work professionalism through interviews and presentations. 2nd place won by Ir. Juznia Andriani, M.Hum., from the Agricultural Library and Literacy Center, Ministry of Agriculture. Furthermore, 3rd place was won by Aris Nurohman, S.H.I., M.Hum from the State Islamic University (UIN) Professor Kiai Haji Saifuddin Zuhri, Purwokerto.
On the closing night, the Deputy for Development of Library Resources at the National Library, Adin Bondar, said that librarians must always develop and keep abreast of existing information. “Librarians are one of the driving engines of the library. The role of the librarian is growing from time to time. Librarians do not only serve the circulation and processing of books but are also required to be able to provide information quickly, precisely, accurately and efficiently," he explained.
The selection of the best achieving librarians at the national level is an event for selecting the nation's best sons and daughters without age limits in the library field who have superior achievements in the field of librarianship, are professional, have personality, are dedicated, innovative, creative, are responsible for carrying out their duties, and have contributed to the profession and useful for the community, so that it can be used as a role model and can motivate other librarians.
This activity is routinely held as the highest appreciation event for librarians in Indonesia. The best librarians selected are those who have dedication, innovation, creativity, and professional responsibility and contribute to society at large. The three winners of the 2023 National Level Best Achievement Librarian will take part in the International Federation Library Association (IFLA) World Library International Congress in Rotterdam, The Netherlands this August.
