Yogyakarta, August 8, 2023 - The Indonesian Association of Academic Libraries in Yogyakarta (FPPTI DIY) will be hosting two prestigious events for librarians, namely the Indonesian Academic Librarian Award (IALA) and the Academic Library Innovation Award (ALIA). These biennial competitions are highly anticipated in the library world, and for the year 2023, the event will take place at the University Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) Library.
Librarians play a crucial role in supporting the academic community. Their responsibilities extend beyond managing and preserving book collections; they also play a vital role in providing access and information services to students, faculty, and the general public. The IALA and ALIA competitions aim to enhance the professionalism and quality of academic librarians' services, ensuring that library users can derive maximum benefits from the facilities and collections provided.
The IALA competition will assess participants based on criteria such as service quality, competence, creativity in developing collections, and contributions to academic activities in their respective institutions. On the other hand, the ALIA competition will focus on technological innovation and services in libraries, including the utilization of the latest information and communication technology to improve access and utilization of collections by library users. The terms and conditions of the competitions can be accessed through the FPPTI DIY website.
It is hoped that through these competitions, the spirit of innovation in the DIY library world will be maintained and further enhanced. Librarians are expected to be more motivated to continuously innovate and make positive contributions to the advancement of libraries and the academic world as a whole.
