The UMY Library successfully held a book review of Subhan Afifi's “Traveling the Path of Devotion” on Wednesday (16/08). This event was held offline at Public Space lt. 3 UMY Libraries and online via Zoom and YouTube live streaming. In this book review, Prof. Dr. Sukamta, ST., MT., IPM as speakers and Mrs. Dra. Elli Nur Hayati, M.PH., Ph.D., Psychologist., as a book reviewer.
The book entitled "Traveling the Path of Devotion" is a biographical book written by Subhan Afifi. This book is a continuation of the previous book "From Factory Worker to Doctor of Engineering" which tells the story of the inspirational journey of a Prof. Dr. Sukamta, ST., MT., IPM., who is a lecturer at the UMY Mechanical Engineering study program who also serves as Deputy Chancellor 1 of UMY.
In the first session Prof. Kamta explained about the journey of education from factory workers to students of the Faculty of Engineering who have now become lecturers of mechanical engineering at UMY. He also told his story of living with limitations and "concern" when he was young. "If people can change the bitter taste into sweet, that's the beginning of success," explained Prof. Kamta.
Mrs. Elli as the book reviewer also said that there are several foundations of self-motivated strength from Prof. Kamto, namely in terms of life situations that are full of blessings with all limitations, parental figures, inspirational teacher figures, and childhood friends. "Precisely because his childhood was full of limitations, it became a strong motivation for Prof. Kamto in dealing with a better life," she explained.
"This event really motivates me, inspires my enthusiasm again. I hope this book can be read by many people, so that other people will also be motivated," said Dewi, one of the participants in the event.
