Indonesia is a country with a rich history of its nation's struggle to achieve independence. One of the important moments in Indonesian history is the "Youth Pledge". History of the Youth Pledge
The Youth Pledge was motivated by the condition of the Republic of Indonesia, which at that time was still in the Dutch colonial period. The Youth Pledge was initiated at the Second Youth Congress on 28 October 1928. However, before that, the youth had first sought unity through the Great Youth Conference (I Youth Congress) which was held from 30 April to 2 May 1926 in Batavia.
However, the First Youth Congress did not produce results after the Chairman of the Congress, Muhammad Tabrani, disagreed with Mohammad Yamin regarding the use of the term Malay as a unified language.
Continued at the Second Youth Congress which took place on 27-28 October 1928. This time the meeting was held in three places, with different concentrations of discussion. October 27, 1928 The Second Youth Congress was held at the Katholieke Jongenlingen Bond Building, Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta. This congress outlined discussions on history, language, customary law, education and will, as elements of the unity and unity of the Indonesian people.
On 28 October 1928 the Second Youth Congress continued at the Oost-Java Bioscoop Building, with discussions on education. Still on the same date but in a different place, namely at the Indonesische Clubhuis Kramat Building. The discussion in this place has become more focused on nationalism, democracy and the contents of the formulation of one vision.
