Gunung Kidul, February 6, 2024 - On Tuesday, February 6, 2024, the Community Service Team from Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY), comprising five librarians along with the Head of UMY Library, Novy Diana Fauzie, SS., MA, conducted a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) at the Office of Kedung Keris Subdistrict, Nglipar District, Gunung Kidul Regency.
Before commencing the FGD, the UMY community service team was warmly welcomed by the Head of Kedung Keris Subdistrict, Rusdi Martono. This activity was carried out as part of the community service team's efforts to gather information about the traditions of Kedung Keris Subdistrict. The resource persons invited to the FGD included village elders and local cultural enthusiasts.
The event began with a welcoming address from the Head of Kedung Keris Subdistrict, followed by remarks from the Head of UMY Library, Novy Diana Fauzie, SS., MA. Subsequently, the head of the community service team, Muhammad Erdiansyah CA., SIP., or affectionately known as Erik, presented ideas related to the writing of the "Tradisi Kedung Keris" book. One crucial point emphasized was the collection of information regarding the traditions that would be included in the book.
The enthusiasm of the resource persons was evident as they provided responses, appreciating the noble intentions of the UMY community service team in reorganizing information about the Tradisi Kedung Keris. After a break, the event continued with interview sessions conducted by members of the community service team, each assigned to develop previously collected information.
Prior to the FGD, on January 20, 2024, the community service team paid a visit ("sowan") to the residence of Mr. Joko Siyono, a cultural enthusiast in the Gunung Kidul area and the author of the book "Tumaritis." This book served as one of the primary sources for the community service team in collecting initial information related to the history, traditions, and culture of the Kedung Keris area.
With a strong determination and enthusiasm to preserve and rediscover potentially forgotten traditions, the UMY Community Service Team aims to make a positive contribution to the development and preservation of cultural richness in Kedung Keris Subdistrict, Gunung Kidul.
