The Importance of the Young Generation's Voting Rights in the 2024 Sim
Author : Aidilla Qurotianti Date : 12 February 2024

The beginning of 2024 will be a momentum of change for Indonesia. The Indonesian people will directly elect the President and Vice President (Pilpres) and legislative general elections (Pileg) to elect members of the DPR, DPD, provincial DPRD and district/city DPRD which will be held in simultaneous elections on February 14 2024. The involvement of the younger generation, including students, is a necessity for the success of the democratic party to create a better quality democratic life.

In the midst of hot conditions that lead to negative and even provocative opinions, the younger generation must also be smart in their actions and selective in choosing leaders. Library friends can do several tips before voting, including: a) check your personal data on the final voter list (DPT) according to your electoral district; b) Check profiles of potential leaders via the internet and social media; and c) Read the vision & mission of the prospective leader.

However, despite the importance of elections, there are still some young people, including students, who choose not to participate or abstain (abstain from the white group). Apart from ignoring basic civic responsibilities, abstention can also produce elected leaders with weak legitimacy, and has the potential to disrupt political stability and society as a whole. Yet it is on this occasion that friends of the library can express their voices to create the desired changes in their society and country.

Participating in elections can provide the power to influence the future direction of a country. The voice of friends of the library is one of many voices that shape government and policy. By participating, library friends have the opportunity to voice their opinions on important issues such as education, the environment, the economy, and others. Apart from that, by choosing to exercise their right to vote, they can directly strengthen the foundations of democracy and confirm their commitment to democratic values.

So don't forget to use your right to vote, because your vote is very influential in the progress of a better and more civilized Indonesian nation!
